ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical effects and safety of radiofrequency thermocoagulation combined with ozone injection in the treatment of failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS). Methods A total of 58 patients suffered from FBSS were treated with radiofrequency thermocoagulation and ozone injection from October 2006 to December 2012.The changes of lumbar and leg functions were observed .The evaluation of clinical efficacy was made by visual analogue scale ( VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) at one week, one month, three months, six months, and twelve months postoperatively , respectively. Results The operation was successfully completed in all the 58 patients , without serious complications .All the cases were followed for one year .The ODI was 20.3 ±3.1 at the last follow-up, which was significantly lower than that before operation (79.8 ±2.6, t=96.871, P=0.000).The VAS of back pain was (7.6 ±0.4) points preoperatively and (3.1 ±0.2) points at the last follow-up, which also showed statistical significance (t=45.206, P=0.000).According to the modified MacNab criteria, clinical outcomes showed excellent in 18 cases and good in 23 cases, with an excellent and good rate of operation being 70.7% (41/58). Conclusion Treatment of FBSS by using radiofrequency thermocoagulation and ozone injection is an effective option .

ABSTRACT

This prospective study is to demonstrate that percutaneous nucleolisys and epidural, foraminal block with oxygen-ozone is effective and very safe to decrease the pain from failed back syndrome. Materials and Methods: previous reported 45 patients with failed back syndrome consent to a total of 45 percutaneous nucleolisys more and foraminal Epidural blockade with ozone therapy was conducted over a period from May 2012 to May 2013 all nucleolisys were performed under fluoroscopic control measures strict asepsis and antisepsis, conscious sedation. All patients were administered ozone in disk, epidural and foraminal (5-10 ml) at 10 ug / ml over 2% procaine more steroidal 1cc 40mg of crystals, in all cases of cefaolin sodium 1grs administered prophylactically. Discution: The effectiveness of treatment is based on pain control by baseline visual analog scale (EVA 0), 30 days (EVA 1), six (EVA 3) and 12 months (EVA 6). By oswestry test evaluated before treatment and at study end; all patients were conducted survey in the first query and then at the end of treatment with satisfactory response

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To explore the mechanism of nucleoplasty combined with oxygen-ozone for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, and to evaluate its therapeutic effects.[Method]From June 2005 to June 2006,62 patients with lumbar disc herniation were treated by nueleoplasty combined with oxygen-ozone,34 were male and 28 were female, ranging in age from 32 to 76 years, with an average of 53.4 years. The course of this disease ranged from 3 to 56 months, meanly 1.3 years.Thirteen patients had the herniation at L4.5 and L3,4,thirty two patients at L4、5,eight patients at L4、5 and L5S1,and nine patients at L5S1.The curative effect was assessed by using a modified MacNab method.[Result]After 25~35 months'follow-up,there were no servious complications in all 62 cases.According to modified MacNab assessment,50 cases(80.7%)achieved excellent outcomes,8 cases(12.9%)good,2 cases(3.2%)fair and 2 cases(3.2%)poor.The excellent and good rate was 93.5%.[Conclusion]The micro-invasive technique of nueleoplasty combined with oxygen-ozone is effective in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, and it has maximized the clinical effect and minimized the local damage:it also expanded adaptive cases with lumbar disc herniation and enlarged the applicable scope of minimally invasive technique in treating lumbar disc hemiation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the therapeutic effect of oxygen-ozone combined collagenase injection for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods Oxygen-ozone and collagenase were injected into the lumbar disc or outside the lumbar disc to treat the lumbar disc herniation. After the treatment, the patients were followed-up for 6~12 months, then the results were assessed according to the Macnab criteria. Results Of 183 patients, the effect was excellent in 144,good in 18,fair in 16 and poor in 5.The curative rate was 88.5%,the effective rate was 97.3%.No serious complications occurred in this group. Conclusion Oxygen-ozone combined collagenase injection is very effective, safe, and cheap method for treating lumbar disc herniation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the clinical effect and the range of indications of oxygen-ozone treatment for lumber disc herniation. Methods 6~15 ml of oxygen-ozone(35~45 ?g/ml) were injected percutaneously into lumbar disc.In case of multiple disc herniations, the proceduce could be taken with two discs for once. Results 323 patients with 433 discs were treated by oxygen-ozone injection procedure.Total effective rate was 77.7%. Conclusions The treatment of lumber disc herniation by oxygen-ozone injection is simple, safe and effective with mild trauma.Oxygen-ozone not only can oxidize the proteoglycan in the nucleus leading to the contraction of nucleus, but also provide anti-inflammation effect with pain relief and without complication yet.
